Our policies and procedures guide how we operate and how we support the people in our care. They reflect our commitment to safety, dignity, choice and accountability, and are regularly reviewed against NDIS Practice Standards and current legislation.

Every participant has the right to be treated with dignity and respect, to exercise choice and control, to feel safe, and to live free from abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination. Our policies exist to uphold these rights.

Person-centred supports

We place participants at the centre of all planning and decision-making. Supports are driven by individual hopes, goals and preferences, not a fixed model of care. This applies across the whole organisation, from governance to service delivery.

Independence and informed choice

Participants have the right to make decisions about their own lives, including decisions that involve risk. We provide information in the right format and at the right time, and we respect every choice. Consent is required for each decision and can be changed at any time.

Individual values and beliefs

We recognise and respect the diversity of the people we support. Our services are inclusive and free from discrimination. We actively support participants to engage in cultural practices, community events and activities that are meaningful to them.

Privacy and dignity

We are committed to the lawful and respectful management of personal information. We operate in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988. Participants are always informed about what information is collected and how it is used.

Rights and responsibilities

All people accessing our services have the right to the same level of dignity, privacy and confidentiality. We are committed to ensuring participants retain maximum control over their own lives and have real influence over decisions that affect them.

Feedback and complaints

We actively seek feedback as a source of ideas for improving our services. We have clear mechanisms for anyone to lodge a complaint, raise a concern or provide a compliment. All feedback is handled respectfully and confidentially.

Violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination

Amazing Grace Community Services has a zero-tolerance approach to violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination. We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all participants, including children. Our team is trained to identify and respond to harm, and our systems support timely reporting and incident management.

Positive behaviour support and restrictive practices

We acknowledge that restrictive practices involve interventions that restrict the rights, freedom of movement or decision-making of a person with disability. Any regulated restrictive practices are authorised, documented and reported in full compliance with legislation. Restrictive practices are only considered where necessary to prevent harm.

NDIS Worker Screening

We are committed to the safety of our participants. All relevant staff hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Criminal History Check and, where required, an Ochre Card. These checks help ensure our workforce does not present an unacceptable risk of harm to the people we support.

Whistleblower

We are committed to the highest standards of integrity and conduct. Our Whistleblower policy provides a safe, confidential mechanism for reporting suspected unethical, illegal or fraudulent conduct. People who make a report are protected from intimidation, disadvantage or reprisal.
